Let Music Be - Let Children Be

While sitting at the Spring Concert at my daughter’ school today, I came to the conclusion that “Music” is perfect.  And every instrument that plays it, makes it perfect.  That is why we must let Music be.  We must let our children be, wherever they want to be.

Your Story in the Labor World

Today, and the days that follows is “Labor Day” in many parts of the world.

And because it is Labor Day I would like to share a little LaborStory that happened yesterday in my LaborWorld.

Yesterday I was doing a task.  This “Task” I don’t usually do it because I gave it up long time ago.  And there is really not an ounce in me that want to keep on doing it (at this moment in time).  Even thought that is what I love doing.

Anyways…

While helping one of my co-workers with a customer, another co-worker asked me if they could do something.  They asked because I was their supervisor at the time.  This “something” that they asked was/is something that violates the company’s rules, policies and laws.  Which you (I) can’t do UNLESS is an emergency.

When they asked, I immediately replied with a comment, and left it as that.  And nothing else was said or asked.

A couple of minutes later, while walking somewhere.  I saw a co-worker doing something with a brand new company’s “equipment.”   This ‘something’ that they were doing, if they kept on doing it, would have let to the inability to be able to use that “equipment.”  So, I called them up, and said a few words, and left it as that.  And immediately they did as they were told.

After that, I just went back to help another co-worker.

A few minutes later, someone touched me in my left shoulder and got close to me and said:

“I am stunned of how you talk to your employees.  How can you do it?  Why do you do it? How do you do it? It is amazing. You don't see that in the business world today."

I looked back, and noticed it was the same customer I was helping at the beginning of the story. (It looks like the customer was listening to both conversations).

So I turned and said:

Hi. :-)  I can do this because I love people.  I love working with people.  I love working for people.  Why do I do it?  Because this is what I love doing.  :-)

The customer deeply looked at me, smiled and left.

So, why do I share this with you?

I do not know why, but I will say this to you (owner, manager, supervisor, worker):

Even if you have the best job in the world.  Even if you have the worst job in the world.  Even if you love your job.  Even if you hate your job.  Even if all of the above.  No matter what, you should always do, say the right thing, and what is right, when the lights are on, as well as when the lights are off.

There is always someone watching.  Always, always.

As a human being like you, I can frankly say to you that I don’t know when, how, and what "your reward will be" for doing, saying the right thing and what is right.  But I can personally say this:

Even though the ‘physical reward’ takes time to arrive, the ‘inner reward’ always arrives on time.  Believe me, there is not money in this world that can buy ‘inner reward.’  So, with or without rain, keep holding the umbrella up.  And I promise you that your time will eventually come up.

:-)

Happy Labor Day!
